The power of industry focus

Clients have been overwhelmed with law firm advice on Covid-19. As early as April, clients were telling law firms to slow down — it was too much, firms were too eager, the advice was too generic. Fast forward to today, when my LinkedIn feed gave me a fantastic example of how to provide clients with immediately useful, client-centered help responding to the pandemic. In this post — https://www.linkedin.com/posts/womble-bond-dickinson-uk-llp_next-wednesday-were-teaming-up-with-womble-activity-6671429851368493056-QMoe — Womble Bond Dickinson exhibits its client-centered, industry driven “chops”. WBD is working with business leaders to provide workforce safety advice unique to the transport industry. KUDOS!

Of course, industry-focus only brings in the work if this strategic approach is executed well internally, into all the operating systems that make a firm work: talent, compensation, governance, finance, marketing/BD. Firms focusing well on these internal efforts will have a HUGE leg up recovering from the lag in demand.
