AI and Law Firm Culture (Continued): How to Adapt Culture to Ensure Talent Retains Value and Develops Well

Below is the second installment in my colleague Steve Daitch's series on AI and Culture in Law Firms.
The first installment (https://lnkd.in/gddC5W4y) made the case that AI will improve efficiency and reshape workflows, but law firm performance ultimately depends on culture—how people behave, collaborate, and execute strategy.
The second posits that -- contrary to much of the type around AI -- the value of human capabilities is ACCELERATING alongside, AI, not declining.
🔶 As demand for AI skills explodes, demand for human capabilities—adaptability, emotional intelligence, resilience, creativity—is rising. AI doesn’t replace human value; it raises the premium on it.
What should law firms do to ensure their talent provides value and develops well in the AI age? How can law firms evolve their talent model and training to leverage the premium on the human value needed to deploy AI well?
Steve's article posits that what will separate winning firms from the rest will be who builds the best “brain capital”—organizations filled with people who can think critically, adapt quickly, collaborate effectively, and lead under uncertainty. Build around a culture that values "brain capital," and your firm will stand a much better chance of making the most of the AI revolution. Fail to reset culture and behavior in that way, and your firm won't maximize AI's value and will more often lose to firms who do.
The firms that will outperform in the AI age are the ones investing—intentionally and systematically—in a culture that values trust, an open mindset, resilience, and human judgment in the face of uncertainty. They design organizations where technology handles the routine, and people elevate the work that actually creates value: judgment, relationships, and creativity.
AI is changing the game—but humans can still decide who wins.
